Kaji scowled. "Are you tryin' to pry into my bussiness too?" The words sounded a little jumbled, as if it was hard for the Ookami to think straight. He had been well on his way to drunk before this and he couldn't handle booze very well in the first place. "Thass not what I came here for, thank-you-very-much."

Jamie, while concerned, figured that letting it drop for now might make it easier to get a proper answer in the future. "Alright then," he replied and flashed a smile. "Did you come here for my lovely company~?" He half-teased, half-hoped.

"Maybe," Kaji mumbled, too out of it to be embarassed. "But 'm staying for the booze. Speaking of which..." He looked around before finishing. "Where'd it go?"

Jamie moved his hand to grab the neck of the bottle and raised a brow. "D'ya have school tomorrow?" He asked, determined not to let him drink too much if the answer was yes. If he didn't, though, he could drink to his heart's content. Jamie refused to be the cause of Kaji falling behind in his studies due to alcohol. His own chances were probably shot to hell and back, but Kaji... Kaji could go places, he had the drive. Jamie wouldn't let him ruin that.

Kaji thought for a moment. "No." He probably wouldn't have gone even if there had been class. While the Ookami was normally a complete workaholic, but right now... Well he didn't have much motivation to do anything at the moment. At least not for a day or two. Nothing other than mope in his empty apartment.

Kaji's response took a little weight off of the elder Ookami's shoulders. "Alright then, but you're going to wait for me to get off my shift so I can walk you home, aight?" He kept his voice gentle but firm, there would be no negotiating this one. He had seen Kaji try and handle himself in a fight before, and he wasn't going to take any chances.
He poured out a fair amount of something a little milder for Kaji and waited to see if the redhead would try opening up on his own for once while they both waited for Fred to arrive.

"Y' don't need to need to worry about me so much," Kaji grumbled. "I am a big boy you know. I can handle myself. I've been doin' it for years."

Jamie's smile seemed to gain a bit of sadness. "Yeah, well..." he poured himself another drink. "Doesn't mean I can't want to look out for ya. You shouldn't HAVE to be all on your own." He couldn't even imagine it, but Jamie was a social man by nature, and he fed off of attention of all sorts.

Kaji glowered into his glass, brows tightly furrowed. "Well I have been. It's pretty damn shitty, but it is what it is. 'm used to it. I've been used to it for a while."

Jamie frowned. "What about yer family?" He prodded gently as he took a sip of his own drink. He was glad that everyone was dancing or not trying to get his attention... maybe they realized how important this conversation seemed to be, or maybe he was just lucky, but either way he was thankful.

"Don't got one." He gave a rather sloppy-looking shrug. "I mean, technically I've got some left, but not really." Yuna counted, he supposed. But he had a hard time thinking of whatever other relatives he had as family.

Jamie's heart gave an involuntary lurch at how Kaji's voice sounded. He put down his drink. "Parents, aunts, uncles, grandparents?" Jamie nudged, refilling Kaji's glass. The other had said he wanted to get drunk, might as well fulfill one wish...

Kaji just shook his head a few times. Nothing, he had nothing. "None of them give two fucks about me. Th' feeling's pretty mutual." His fists tightened a little. "Stupid bitch didn't think about that at all, did she? Thought I would be fine..." The grumbling only continued to grow more incoherent. Despite the hostility in his words, the undertone in Kaji's voice was more sad than angry.

Jamie couldn't help but glances at the door, willing Fred to show up so he could take Kaji home before this got too personal. He shifted his gaze back to the redhead and brushed some hair out of Kaji's eyes. "What'd she say?"

"Nothing!" he snapped. It had come out quite a bit louder than he had meant it to. "Nothing..." The Ookami lowered his voice as well as his gaze. Something inside of him wanted to spill everything; he had been holding too much in for way too long. But that thought was absolutely minuscule when compared to his usual caution.
It was just around this time that Fred slipped in to take over for the night. He had the late shift this time, which wasn't really something he ever looked forward to... But it wasn't like he had anything pressing to do during the day. The Brit glanced over towards his Irish co-worker, more or less assuming that a somewhat... Personal conversation was taking place. He noticed Jamie glance in his direction and gave a short wave, signaling that it was fine for him to leave if he needed to.
