Aiden glanced around at the trees of the small grove as he waited. For some reason he felt that this was the right place to be... He could do with a little quiet for once. Jack had been kind enough to look after Anya for a few hours and give Eva and his brother a little time off from being parents...
And yet, for some reason, Aiden was spending it HERE in the woods. Not that he'd be opposed to the woods, if he remembered properly... but the fact that he was alone in the woods settled a little oddly in his mind. He hadn't been alone for very often recently...
Not that he'd be alone for much longer, Hotaru was going to be around soon... He just hoped she was doing better than the LAST time they had met... He doubted either of them were over Matsuda's death (HE certainly wasn't), but he wanted to try getting along...

Hotaru nervously messed with the engagment ring on her left hand as she walked into the forest. She didn't want to do this, she'd rather do anything BUT this, but she had to keep reminding herself that it was for Jack. Still... talking to that monster was going to be harder for her than she thought. Just the though of being around him made her blood boil, and considering the doctors were still labeling her as "unstable", that wasn't a very good thing.
She saw the familiar face and nearly had to keep from scowling at him. Instead she went with an emotionless look as she neared the Ookami. "What do you want?" She asked, not realizing how rude it might have sounded until afterward.

Aiden blinked out of his musings as a vaguely familiar and somewhat hostile voice broke the still air. He glanced up to take a good look at the redhead. Her appearance didn't quite match her tone, though he was fairly certain it was taking her a good bit of effort to do so. Not surprising, looking back he couldn't really blame her for being so twitchy around him. Hell, he'd be twitchy if he had run into himself back then...
He shrugged. "We're supposed to try and get along a little so I don't have to vacate the house every time you visit Eva." He had yet to try visiting Jack with Hotaru there, on account of that was a bit of a safe haven. He had had one a while back, and intruding upon that sanctuary when the occupant wasn't friendly to you was a bad idea. Aiden had ENOUGH bills to pay without property damage piled on, thank you.
"I figured this would be as good a place as any." Isolated might not always be a good thing, but it was open and he figured it was hard to feel trapped when you were out in nature. He was going to give this a try for Jack... And for Matsu...

Hotaru kept silent for a good moment or two, taking a small breath before she spoke. "So what do you suppose we do?" She asked bluntly. "Talk about our feelings? Forget that you tried to kill me at one point? What?" She spoke as calm as she could, but there was still a coldness to it that she couldn't get rid of no matter how much she tried. "I'm not one for giving people second chances, and I certainly know how to hold a grudge.
"But," she continued. "I'm willing to give you a chance..." She had to, he was Jack's brother and Matsuda's best friend as much as it irritated her to admit it. Which reminded her... "Tell me exactly what happened to my brother..." She hadn't been given any details, and she certainly wasn't allowed to see the body due to her mental condition at the time. "This isn't the first time I've lost someone important, so don't leave out any details."

Aiden hesitated at that request. Not just because he wasn't sure it was a good idea to tell Hotaru, but because reliving the experience to tell it properly was something he REALLY didn't want to do. Ever. At least not consciously. He still woke up at night thinking about what had happened, luckily he had yet to wake up Eva (to his knowledge) but he wasn't sure how much longer that would be the case.
Still... if it would help repair the damage, he owed it to Hotaru to tell her. "....The plan we originally had was to hold him- the albino, down while he slept and just slit his throat... But I guess he had been expecting us. He was up and locked us in the room with him. He went for Minori first, who dodged..."
Aiden's eyes were shut in concentration as he forced himself to remember as many details as he could for the redhead. If she wanted to know, she might as well know how the entire fight went. "Matsu and I went after him though, but we just... we couldn't get a hit on him. He kept talking too, and he had Minori pegged as the one with the least experience, he kept attacking him to draw Matsu and I in for more hits that we couldn't properly defend against..."

Hotaru clenched her fists tight as Aiden explained what had happened. So it was Puff that killed him... Her grey eyes twitched noticably as images of the albino flashed repeated in her mind. She hated him. She hated all three of those monsters more than she could put into words. SHE wanted to be the one to kill them, show them her torture, tear their guts out, rip them limb from limb and watch them bleed to death--
The redhead grabbed her head quickly before she could continue her thoughts. Dammit, she needed to watch herself better... "So you killed him right? Puff?" She snapped quickly.

Aiden nodded. "Yeah... cut him open with his own knives. He died crying like a coward." He remembered him whimpering and keening like a child as he bled out... As much as he despised him, the noise of him dying sent a pang through Aiden that made him want to hurl... Hell, just remembering the smell of all the blood from the slaughter... He shuddered involuntarily as he tried holding back the bile.

The redhead sighed quietly and nodded, at least he did that much. She scratched her arm awkwardly as silence passed, not sure of what to say next. What were they suppose to talk about to help them get along easier? She doubted there was anything at all, but then again, she had been pessimistic about this whole thing from the beginning.
"So what now?" She asked uneasily. "Any questions for me?" She certainly didn't have anything else to say to him for the time being. If he had something, he'd better speak up.

Aiden had one pressing concern. "Jack proposed, didn't he?" He asked, glancing pointedly to the ring on Hotaru's hand. It was less of a question and more of a veiled request for details. Not because he really wanted to know, but because if he kept Hotaru talking maybe it would make this all less awkward.

Hotaru looked down at the little ring on her finger and blushed, allowing her blank expression to be replace with a soft smile as she admired the little thing. "He did." She confirmed. "Took me to the beach, we had our first date there." She closed her eyes to relive the memory, opening them again a few seconds later. "One of the best days of my life, and it's only just the beginning."
The grey eyed girl remembered who she was talking to and almost instantly put her guard back up, but it wasn't too harsh this time. Just enough to be cautious. "And I've talked to him about it... and I'm okay with you attending the wedding." She had to resist a sigh, this was for Jack, she reminded herself. And... and her brother.

Aiden snorted. "As if either of you could make me stay away." Whether they had invited him or not, Aiden wouldn't miss his little brother getting married. "Though, I'm glad," he replied. He meant it for more than just them tying the knot, he also meant it for them tying it in a better manner than he and Eva had. A nice white wedding he was certain, whereas he and Eva hadn't really had the time or means to finagle that.
Not that they would have anyway for any part of it other than the cake, but still, it was the principle of the thing. They couldn't have done it even if they had wanted to, but Jack and Hotaru had options and the means to achieve them with no time-frame due to a baby on the way.

Hotaru glared a little at the snort. THAT was the Aiden she remembered, though the next comment caught her off guard. Him? Glad about them? "Says the guy that wanted me dead for dating his brother..." she muttered. "You really are crazy, aren't you?" Not that she had much room to talk, the redhead still had her moments(though not as often anymore) of muttering and other reactions.

"Said the Phoenix to the Lion..." Aiden half-mumbled to himself, a grin on his face. "I suppose I am, nothing really went away, it's just... dulled a lot." the new had shoved a lot of the old aside, and now Aiden wasn't as bogged down by all that his older self had done... Or at the very least, he could think a little more clearly. There was still a niggling little voice in the back of his mind, but it was better than the every-present urge to maim he had once had.

"So long as you're not trying to beat the hell out of everyone in your path, I guess I can tolerate that." Hotaru said with a small smirk. She tilted her head a little out of curiousity over something. "So do you get in one of those..." she tried to think of a word. "Hulk moments? Like, where the old you tries to come out?" She wasn't sure where that exact wording came from, she probably wasn't even making any sense. Still, she knew he'd been unstable for a while, there had to of been something weird going on it that head of his.

Aiden shrugged. "Something like that... Though it's easier to control than it once was, and surprisingly useful in my line of work." That being 'beat the shit out of opponents in underground fight circuits for more cash than an average job,' but hey, it paid the bills. Who was he to complain about it?
