Kaito sat on one of the very few benches that were scattered around the very outskirts of the beach, expressionlessly watching the few other people who had ventured to the seashore despite the earliness of the season. Although, it was warmer than it had been. The air still had a sharp nip to it, but overall the chill from winter had dissipated. Still, the blue-haired Tora had worn a jacket, just in case his companion got chilly.
He was planning on spending time with Ayumu today; a concept that made him somewhat giddy inside, even if he didn't show it too obviously on the outside. Even after all this time, he still had trouble believing such an wonderful girl had ever even considered remotely liking someone as stoic as him in the first place.

Ayumu wondered around the beach in search for Kaito. She had settled on wearing a loose blue sweater along with her usual black skirt and leggings. It wasn't as cold anymore(thank goodness) and it was starting to feel pretty nice on the beach again. She couldn't help but feel a little excited over it, it meant more landscape paintings she could do without bundling up so much!
It wasn't too long at all until she saw the blue-haired Tora. "Hey you!" she called from a short distance. She let out a tiny giggle as she made her way over to him, the blond couldn't help being so cheerful. Not only was she getting to hang out with Kaito again, AND it was beginning to be her favorite time of the year! She was in a GREAT mood!

A smile worked its way onto Kaito's face (Ayumu was one of the few people whom he shared that expression with so readily).
"Hey," he called with a wave. The blue-haired Tora rose from his seating, walking over to meet the blonde halfway. Even now, after so much time had passed, he felt a renewed giddiness every time he say her. He felt like a dorky high school student dating for the first time, filled to the brim with ridiculously zealous emotions.

Ayumu giggled one more time as she went to hug him. When she let go she took his hand. "So what's on the agenda today?" she asked him, tilting her head and swinging their arms back and forth slightly. "The day's beautiful, there's tons we could do!"
The day was great, not a cloud in the sky, the sea was calm, the breeze even felt really nice. She was half way regretting not bringing her paints and canvases with her, but then again, she came here to spend time with Kaito, not go all art freak on the place.

"I figured we could walk around a little, with the weather being so nice and all." He rubbed the neck sheepishly. Planning things out ahead of time had never been the Tora's strong suit. But seeing as the day was so pleasant, just walking around could be entertaining. Plus for him, just getting to spend some time with Ayumu was enough.

The blond nodded, keeping her smile up the whole time. "Sounds good to me." she agreed, beginning to walk again. "So what have you been up to lately Mister?" she asked innocently. Kind of sad, but to this day it was still her best way to start a conversation.

"Nothing much, honestly." It was a sort of pathetic response, but when it came to Hi's own activities... Well, Kaito hadn't been up to much. Mostly he'd just been watching and/or helping various people around him make little, healthy changes in their lifestyles. Jane had moved in with Persephone. The former had found a job at the hospital and thr latter was (finally) attempting to find a LEGAL source of income. Yukiko too, although he didn't make a habit of noticing such things, seemed a good deal happier than she used to be. Maybe she'd finally made friends... From what he could tell the little Ookami was a bit lazy in the social department (not like he was one to talk).
"What about you? Any exciting news?"

Ayumu thought about it for a moment. "Uhh... New paintings and taking care of West as usual, but that's really about it." she admitted sheepishly. She sighed. Her life really wasn't all the interesting. It was nice, yes, and she really couldn't complain, but the more she thought about it, the more she realized she actually wanted to go out and LIVE her life like so many other people she knew. West was out a lot more without her, which she was glad because, as much as she hated it, she couldn't baby him forever. It was good to know he was starting to be a little more independent, but it left her with more time to lay around and do nothing. It was like being a mother and having your kid go off to college.
The blond decided to sum her thoughts together in one short phrase. "My life's plain." she said with a disappointed tone.

"Well it could be horrifying and traumatic, so plain isn't too terrible," the blue-haired Tora joked. He nonchalantly wove his fingers through the blonde's as they walked along. "My life's been pretty simple too, if it makes you feel any better. I think I like it though. Things haven't felt this good for me in a pretty long time." Ayumu was probably the main cause of that. As cheesy as it sounded, being with her gave him some sense of purpose where he would otherwise lack it completely.

Ayumu laughed awkwardly for a second. "Yeah, it's nice, but sometimes I wish I could be a little more... I dunno..." she struggled to find the word. "Exciting." she was hoping for a more specific word, but that one would have to do for now. "It's always so calm and predictable for the most part. I just wished things were a little more... different?" bleh, still couldn't come up with a good word for it.

"Well if that's the way you feel," the blue-haired Tora suggested, "why don't we try to do something exciting?" It was a simple enough solution. They'd just have to make their own adventure if they wanted something "new" to happen.

Ayumu's eyes lit up at his suggestion. "Yeah! That'd be great!" she exclaimed happily. She turned her head to look around the beach to see if there was something that would spark an idea. "Ummm, what would ya have in mind?" she asked him curiously, still scanning the beach.

"There's gotta be some places to explore around here," he mused blankly. During one of Yukiko's various chat-fests with him (honestly, with how much that girl could talk he was surprised at her lack of a social life) he recalled her mentioning some rockier areas just off shore with caves and stuff... "Why don't we look around?"

Ayumu turned her head back to him and nodded. "Sounds good to me." she agreed. "Lead the way!" she encouraged him cheerfully. "I'll go anywhere you go." she blushed a little at that last little phrase. It WAS true though, she'd follow Kaito pretty much anywhere if she had the choice. She shook her head a little in an attempt to get rid of the blush(though she doubted it did any good), looking up at Kaito again a quick moment later. She let out a timid laugh, she probably looked a little weird to him right then...

Ayumu didn't seem odd at all to the other Tora. In fact, he was probably blushing more than she was. His cheeks were died a soft, warm red, but Kaito was getting better at handling himself when he got embarrassed.
"Alright, let's try this way then," he murmured, managing a small grin. He held Ayumu's hand and walked towards the general direction he rememberedthe rocks being in.
