She grinned wryly. "So long as you don't mind running laps when he's bugged. He does that. Something about building endurance." She shrugged. "I don't see how it relates, but he's Cort." That was really all the justification one needed. Satoru was a gunslinger, and you didn't question his training methods. Griping and arguing was fine, but he probably had a reason for what he did.

Kage rolled his multicolored eyes in a way he'd learned to do when he was young. In short, they rolled in opposite directions. The giant shrugged and put his hands closer together, causing the coin to spin across both sets of fingers simultaneously.
"At least he doesn't make us do anything silly," replied Kage. "Running to build endurance actually sounds like it makes some sense."

Mina suppressed a shiver at the eye-roll and shrugged. "I guess, but I'm not really trying to be a pro at all of this. Self defense is about the extent I want to take it to." She shrugged. "Killing someone isn't exactly on my agenda, ya know?" She paused. "I doubt that's really what he's trying to get across, but it's do-or-die for 'im sometimes."

Kage thought about Mina's take on the whole 'learning how to shoot' thing, and it made a good deal of sense to him. She was there for a specific need that had to be met, as was he.
"Do-or-die's how some people have to be," replied the giant offhandedly. "With Cort, it's do what he says, or die... but everyone's got their style."

The woman snorted. "That's surprisingly accurate." She gave a grin. "Well, I guess everyone's met someone like that. We're just stuck with him for the time being, huh?"

The coin spun obediently up Kage's arm, disappearing beneath the tattered sleeve of his jacket as he placed that hand on Mina's shoulder and cracked a grin of his own.
"He may think we're stuck here with him..." said the giant in a bad attempt at a gruff voice. "But lemme tell ya somethin'... He's stuck here with us."

Mina chuckled. "Now that's something to be feared." She smiled at the Tora. "He might have survived gunfights and New Tokyo, but he'll be hard pressed to get through us." She had a feeling that Kage would find himself integrated into the group, whether he liked it or not.

Kage nodded and gave Mina a thumbs-up. He had originally been intending to stay at the shooting range long enough to make a few bucks and perhaps get to know an Ookami or a Kuma, but talking with Mina had somehow made the giant feel... welcome.
"I bet you and Egil already have 'im on the ropes, huh?" quipped Kage. "Poor guy prolly doesn't have much tolerance for us odd types."

Mina shrugged. "If we got him there, he's probably gotten used to it by now." She gave Kage a wink. "Though I think all we really needed was a fresh act for the show to go on." She left the question of odd-type-tolerance unanswered, she was pretty sure it could be taken as a rhetorical question anyway.

Kage winked right back at Mina as the coin snuck right out of the opposite sleeve it had gone in and trailed down to his pinky, where it spun on the end. This wouldn't have been much of a feat, had that particular pinky not been parallel to the counter.
"I'm some sorta act, all right," the giant said. Somewhere in his head, he wondered just why nobody really said anything about his peculiar talent.

Mina leaned down and peered very very carefully at the coin. She tilted her head to the side and moved, seeing it from a different angle. "How exactly are you doing that?" She asked, from her voice alone it was evident she was entranced.

Kage looked down at the physics-defying silver disc and pondered Mina's question for a moment. Absentmindedly, the giant reached that particular hand up to scratch his nose, and the coin made a quick transfer from his pinky to the tip of his nose while it had the chance.
"Huh..." remarked Kage inarticulately. "I've never really thought about how I do this stuff. I wasn't even any good at spinning it on a table at first, but now it's like... It's like I want it to happen, so it does. Too bad nothing else works that way for me..."

Mina shook her head. "You know, they say that if you think that only bad things happen to you, more bad things will come. And that good things happen if you think optimistically." She gave a half-grin at her giant comrade. "So always look on the bright side of life." Almost as an afterthought, she threw in a cheery whistle.

Kage gave Mina a sidelong glance and cracked a grin. The coin slid off of his nose and dropped into his palm, and Kage closed his hand.
"Maybe there's a reason why life seems kinda rotten..." pondered the giant. "Something I've forgotten, perhaps? Maybe I should laugh, and smile... and dance, and sing while I'm at it, huh?"

Mina grinned. "That's the ticket. My dad once told me that when you're feeling down in the dumps just purse your lips and whistle, that's key." She chuckled at the memory. "And always look on the bright side of life."
