That smile, that sweet sweet smile, it was so good to see it again. The hand that was in Takumi's hair moved to his cheek and she wiped off a tear of his with her thumb. Kiyoko couldn't help but smile again, because he was here and he wasn't mad at her for leaving him. She still felt terrible for it, probably always will, but this lightened the weight of all the guilt she'd been carrying for years. She felt like she could breathe again.
"I'm so proud of you." She told him honestly. "I don't care what you've done. You did what you had to and you're still my sweet boy and I'm just so proud of you." Kiyo couldn't tell you the last time she had ever cried of JOY before, maybe she never had, but of all the times for it to happen this was it.

Takumi could have died happy hearing that, really he could've. He'd expected her to understand that he'd done what he had to do to get to her and find her, but he hadn't expected pride. Tolerance, but not pride. What mother wanted a killer for a son anyway?
He didn't have the words to reply, so he just buried his face back in the crook of her neck and basked in the affirmation. He wanted to sleep but he didn't want to stop hugging her, he felt too safe to want to risk changing anything, safety was so scarce usually but it was here in abundance.

Kiyoko was more than happy to hug him again and her arms wrapped around him once more. She knew more than most what her son had done, not in detail but she knew exactly what Ghosts were trained to do, and none of it was his fault. Choices were made before and after he was born that he hadn't been aware of, all to turn him into some weapon. He wasn't a weapon though, he was her son and that was all that mattered to her.
