A sword was pulled out of a man's chest by a hooded figure. The blood that covered it was quickly wiped off with a rag before it was sheathed and the person looked around for a moment. It was dark out, but green eyes still seemed to glow ominously as they searched for something. Other than the eyes the rest of the face had been covered, a collar high enough to hide the mouth if tilted at the right angle, and a band around the forehead to push back and hide the bangs of the figure's hair while the hood hid the rest. That was the important part, the hair had to be hidden. White hair was too noticeable of a feature, and there was only one person in Hatsu Itonami with that size and hair color.
This was crazy, Karina was well aware. It was stupid and insane and incredibly dangerous... but she needed it. She didn't like that she was craving it, had been for years, but she was tired of fighting it especially now that she knew the reason why. And, well, was there any better way to let it out? She doubted it, not without becoming more of a monster than she already was.
It had been a few weeks since her visit at the shooting range. The two adults, Satoru and Kiyoko, explained how a woman in New Tokyo began a series of experiments to create an army of human weapons. The worst part, the part that made Karina's skin crawl at the thought of it, was that she was one of them.
She had been meaning to stop by the range again to speak with one of them privately, but there had been too much going on in her head that she hadn't felt prepared to find out more just yet. Karina had done so much to keep her mind away from it: meditation, exercise, pretty much anything that could help clear her head or focus its attention somewhere else, but eventually whatever was in her body that was telling her to kill had gotten too strong. She only went after criminals though. Gangsters, rapists, people like that, so that didn't make her too bad of a person... did it? She was just making the best out of a bad situation, and it was either this or risk hurting the people she cared about.
"Who's there?" Karina asked finally once she finished looking around the alley. Someone was there, she knew when she was being watched. Her usual soft and gentle voice was lower and more firm in case of the off chance that someone recognized it. "Show yourself now or I will find you myself, I won't ask again."

Perri usually wouldn't have been in that alley when she saw the hooded figure stab the man. She had gone out to get a present for her girlfriend in celebration of their upcoming anniversary. They would be dating for a year later on in the week and she wanted to get Karina something to show she had remembered. She didn't care if Karina didn't give her anything, the fact that she stayed after the drama in the beginning in their relationship was more than enough. So, she'd been out shopping in an area where she knew she would get a good deal. She'd only taken the alley so she could get home faster since it was already so late. She didn't want to see what she'd seen but it was too late.
She heard the voice of the girl and she went numb. She'd been seen... or something. She thought she was hidden well enough behind the dumpster-- where she'd ducked as soon as she'd seen the weapon. She dropped her hands from her mouth. No need to hide breathing when the person knew you were there. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath, sending out a little prayer that she would make it home safe and sound. She never prayed.
She stepped out from behind the dumpster, her heels clicking on the concrete. She clutched her purse, which held the gift, in her right hand, trying not to show weakness. "Um... hi?" her eyes darted to the body at the girl's feet. Had he not been there she may have been able to ask directions or something. She just hoped she would make it out alive. The street was too far to run and there was no way a killer was going to just let her run to the cops or whatever. Perri sucked in a breath and made herself stand taller. "I won't say anything if you let me go. I was just trying to get home."

Karina could have sworn her heart had stopped when she saw Perri come into view. Oh dear god no, anyone but her what was Perri even doing around here this late at night!? And she had just watched her... Oh lord this couldn't get any worse.
It took a moment to get over her shock, and Karina quickly turned her head to keep as much of her face out of view from the blond. True, most of it was hidden enough, but if Perri saw her eyes then she might figure it out and the Tora was terrified of what she might think of her if she figured it out. "I'm not going to hurt you." She said, masking her surprise well enough. "This man was a murderer and a rapist, I was only making sure he wouldn't hurt anyone again." Normally she wouldn't try explaining, but this was Perri. She had to justify this to her, even if her girlfriend wasn't aware that it was her.

Perri crossed her arms over her chest and looked down at the dead man. She couldn't help herself from responding. "That's all well and fine, if it's true. How would I know that were true? It's not like there's any proof on his dead body that he was a terrible person." She snapped her mouth shut and stared at the girl, hoping she hadn't set her off. She just couldn't control her response. She paused that moment then decided to continue. She'd already dug the grave with what she said first, no need to stop now. "Besides, who said it was your job to clean up the trash of the streets? You're not Batman. Batman is really the only one that gets that exclusive right... but he's fictional, so you're back at square one."

Since when did words hurt worse than stab or gun wounds? Karina had gotten some of those recently(she'd develop her own scar collection at some point, she was sure), but they weren't anything compared to the pain she felt from hearing this from Perri. "I... have my reasons." Her words were slow and careful. She needed to stay calm.
"You need to leave." She said after a few moments. "Please, it's not safe here. You need to be more careful..." Her voice softened just a bit at the last sentence. She wanted to keep Perri safe, she just needed to leave.

Perri snorted and tossed her hair off her face. "You have your reasons... that's what they all say."
Once the girl's voice went softer something in Perri froze. She was about to start leaving but something was keeping her there. She felt like she recognized the girl. "You know, most killers wouldn't let the witnesses get away... so, why are you letting me go?" She asked as her heart pounded. She was being ridiculous, she really should go, but she felt like she couldn't leave her. She felt like she may know her... She stepped forward once.

Karina ducked her head down and took a step back as she heard Perri come forward. Really, she could have just taken off and that would be the end of it, but the white haired teen couldn't bring herself to run away and she didn't know why. She hadn't been afraid when she killed, so why was she so scared now when there was no real threat?
"Please don't call me that..." She muttered quietly. She knew she was a killer, she wouldn't deny it, but she couldn't bare hearing that from her girlfriend. Karina found the firmness in her voice and tried to speak again. "I told you to leave. Now!" Why couldn't she just go?!

Perri's heart beat faster at the girl's quiet mutter, she didn't know why. "Call you what? A killer? Hate to sour your milk, buttercup, but you've killed a guy... that makes you a killer." She was proud to note that she didn't even flinch when the girl told her to leave again. She stepped forward again, bypassing some trash at her feet. "Why aren't you leaving? You don't have to stick around. Unless you were wanting to get rid of the body in some way, then gross."

The more Perri talked the more Karina could feel herself breaking. She wasn't sure if she'd ever be able to look her in the eye again after tonight, this was just too much. "This is none of your business Perri, just go!" She needed to LEAVE and be SAFE and spend time with her brother and cousins and just forget this even happened and--
Oh no, she'd just called the blond by name. No no no this was it, this was the end. Perri was going to find out and think she was a monster and leave her! This couldn't be happening, in just couldn't, please let this just be a bad dream.

Perri's eyes widened and her heart skipped another beat. She was hesitant as she continued forward, leaning to the side a little to try to see the girl's face. "Karina?" She ventured. The girl had the same stature and it sounded like her when she said Perri's name. She clutched her purse tighter in her hand as she got closer. She'd mostly forgotten about the dead body. She'd seen a few in her day-- who hadn't? The fact that the person that killed him was probably her girlfriend was something totally new though. Perri's heart raced.

Karina winced as Perri said her name and she tried her best to hold back the tears that were forming in her eyes. She couldn't hide it now... The whitette took a few more steps back as she pulled off her hood, keeping her eyes down so she wouldn't have to look at her girlfriend directly. "I told you, it's just criminals..." She muttered as a last hope that Perri wouldn't hate her. She closed her eyes and took a breath as she prepared for whatever the other teen's response would be. Just expect the worst, it'll hurt less when she actually says it. Hopefully.

It was like a hot iron had been shoved in her stomach when Karina took her hood off and revealed herself. Perri went through a mixture of emotions, pretty much all of the stages of grief, a bit of fear and some confusion among other things. She didn't deliberate long on what to say. What else could she say? Or do? It was Karina. Perri hadn't noticed that she'd dropped her purse in the shocking unveiling of the hoodie and she didn't notice when she left it lying on the ground while she closed the distance between the two. She threw her arms around Karina, wincing slightly as her hand brushed the case of the sword. She brushed that feeling away and clutched her to her chest. "What pushed you to do this?" she muttered as she clutched the girl and rocked her slightly. One of her hands ventured to the other girl's hair and started to softly brush the back of it, soothingly. Had it been anyone else Perri wouldn't have reacted this way. But, Karina had stood next to her during the worst point in her life that day in the cafeteria. She needed to do the same. She just wanted to understand.

Karina's eyes shot open as she was hugged. She... she didn't hate her? How...?
She pushed that thought out of mind for the moment and she put her arms around Perri to hug her back. A few silent tears leaked out from her eyes and after a few moments she pulled back and wiped them off. "I'll explain everything, but we need to get out of here first." She walked over and picked up the blond's purse before turning back to her. "We'll get out of here faster if you let me carry you." Karina told her as she pulled the hood back over her head. Now that she thought about it, Karina had never worn anything sleeveless around Perri before, so the muscles might seem a little strange. That is, if she noticed them, the couple of knife wounds she had gotten the week before might draw more attention.

Perri's eyebrows raised and she started to protest when she noticed Karina's bare arms, and muscles. Since when was her sweet girlfriend a bad ass? She saw a few scars and her eyes widened a little. Then she realized she was standing in an alley where a guy Karina had killed lay. "She walked around the body and stood behind Karina. "Don't tell anyone I let you carry me. I'm supposed to be the bad ass of the relationship," she said as she wrapped her arms around Karina's neck and jumped up. She was glad she hadn't worn one of her usual skirts.

Karina smiled a little at Perri's comment. "And you still are." She said in her usual soft tone. She moved her arms to hold Perri up securely as she looked around to find the best path.
"Hold on tight, okay?" She warned before taking off. With ease she hopped on top of the dumpster before jumping up to grab an escape ladder. The quiet teen continued to move upward until she got them to the roof. She ran until she came to the edge and jumped off to land on another rooftop and continued to do the same towards the direction of the dorms. Her room would be private for the night since Merry was staying at home, they could talk there.
