Merry kept her hold on her sister's hand, but the grip was weakening. What were they talking about? "When what happened, Karina?" She asked, a lump of worry working it's way up through her chest. She didn't like the way this was turning out. She wasn't scared of her sister, she couldn't be after so long with her, but she was a little scared of there being something out there that had been controlling her big sister even just a little...
Satoru kept his mouth shut. This was something Kiyo was much more knowledgeable of, and he was happy to leave her to it.

Karina looked down at her sister and smiled to try easing her worries. "She's asking about when we were taken from our mother." She told her, trying to dance around the topic as much as possible. Though the more she thought about... that, the more she wondered who that man was. Still, she didn't want to say anything about it with Merry listening. She turned back to Kiyoko and Satoru. "And like I said, I was too young to remember anything that might have happened around then."
Kiyo just nodded. "Right, I just wanted to be sure was all." Of course, she knew Karina was lying, but there was no point in pushing the topic if she wasn't going to talk. Maybe some other time.
Now the question was, well, what to do with her now?

Satoru sighed, trusting Kiyo's lead on this one. She knew more about Ghosts and about teenage girls, he'd leave the option of pushing this shit to her judgement. He'd fucked up his own son before, he wasn't keen on pushing his luck with a strange kid. "Well now that that's out of the way," he drawled, "I think Kotori was going to show you all the Range properly..." He gave a pointed look to the girl by Gabe, a clear indication to 'get fucking moving.'
Blue finally seperated herself from the wall, swallowing down her nerves. "An' yeah, Dweeb, like I said, Anya sent me for ya." Right now Blue just wanted to get the fuck out of the Range. There wasn't a chance in hell she was sticking around a couple of Ghosts, one failed or not...

Kotori and Gabe, who had both been completely silent during the conversation, responded quickly to who had spoken to each of them. "Y-yeah!" The Kuma girl exclaimed, reaching over to link Merry's arm with her own. "You two come on, let's go look around." She was more talking to Merry than Karina honestly, after what she had just seen and heard Tori was more than a little scared of the elder sister...
Karina glanced down and noticed the dark haired girl's expression and frowned. She knew when she wasn't wanted. She quickly picked her smile back up and looked over at Merry. "You have fun okay? I'll see you at the dorms." Or maybe not, she wasn't sure yet. Way too much information in one day that she would have preferred going her whole life without knowing. She needed to meditate at the very least, maybe go for a walk later. Karina moved her hand to try to hug her little sister, but paused half way before pulling her hand back. Karina moved her eyes to look down and quickly turned to leave the range, she just needed to get out of there.
Gabriel tried not to look at the white haired girl as she hurriedly left the range, and instead replied to Blue. "Right, yeah let's go." Ah damn, and wasn't Anya's cousin dating Karina? He wondered how that would turn out now.
Kiyoko was silent as the teens all went their separate ways, frowning especially when Karina made her exit. Poor girl, she didn't chose this...
Which reminded her... She should probably let Satoru know now that it was at the front of her mind. "Hey, Satoru," She started, looking down at her brother. "There's something I need to tell you." Kiyo didn't know if this was something she should have told him years ago or what, but she had done her best to forget and telling someone only made it harder to do that. She knew she wouldn't be able to forget now, not with Merry and Karina around, so she might as well tell someone...

Merry wasn't sure which way to move. Did she go after her sister or after her friends? But Karina made the choice for her, heading out quietly without so much as a hug. Merry felt a small part of her crack just a little at that. Karina was upset... But going after her wouldn't help much after what they'd just learned. She didn't feel much like tagging along with Tori right now, but... But she probably should. "Okay..." She said quietly, turning back to Tori to follow her deeper into the range.
Everyone was gone when Kiyoko spoke, so this was something serious. Satoru turned to her. "Should we move out of the lobby for it?" He asked, tilting his head towards the back where his office was. There was less chance of being walked in on back there.

Kiyo nodded. "Yeah, that'd be best." She would rather this be a private conversation, it was going to be tough for her just to get the words out and the last thing she needed was for someone to walk in on that. With that the two turned to go towards Satoru's office while Kiyoko tried to think of the easiest way for her to put this.

It wasn't long before they reached it, but Satoru couldn't help but wonder what was up. Ghost business, probably. Nothing else would be this urgent after finding them in the city. Still, something felt off. Whatever this was was big. "So," Satoru said as the door shut behind them and they found themselves in the comfortable and secure quiet of Satoru's office. "What did you want to say?" He was curious, true, but he'd wait for her to find her words. Telling family important things could be difficult, everyone knew that.

The two entered the office and Kiyo went to lean against a wall as she thought to herself a little longer. After a moment she took a deep breath, it really WAS time that she told someone. "I've never told anyone this. Not because I was ashamed, I just thought that maybe I could forget if enough time passed and..." She trailed off, closing her eyes for a moment when she felt herself tearing up. Enough beating around the bush, just get it out.
Kiyoko opened her eyes and looked back at Toru as one tear managed to fall. "I uh, I have a son, in New Tokyo. He's a Ghost." She wiped the tear off quickly and went to trying to get rid of the ones that were about to escape as well. She wanted to wait to say more until she saw Satoru's response anyway.

Satoru couldn't have stopped himself from staring. "When?" He asked. He wasn't sure why that was the first question, but it was better than the alternatives. 'How' was because she was sold to Jun, 'why' was because Jun was Jun, 'what' was pretty self explanatory, and 'who' seemed like it wouldn't be answerable without reopening some old wounds. Going back to that city, even for memories, was a trip through hell. Kiyo was tough, though, and if she felt she could tell it he knew that she would.

Kiyoko took another deep breath before answering. "Not long after you left the city. I hadn't been getting as many clients as I had before, but because I'd been with Jun for so long she'd made me her personal servant instead." Aside from the events that occurred when she first met Satoru, she had been completely obedient to Jun, so it made sense to trust Kiyoko at her side like that. "That's how I know so much about the experiments in the first place, I'd overhear her conversations. Eventually she offered me a chance to live a few years in comfort." She gave a weak grin at that. "And, well, you know how impossible that would have been to resist."
She pushed her bangs back as she continued. "So I got pregnant, and they started giving me... They started the experiment." She had tried so hard to disconnect herself from what was going on, and the high helped with that for the most part. Then she actually HAD him and she'd ended up adoring the little boy. She smiled sadly at the memory. "I got to raise Takumi for a little over five years. I tried not to get attached because I knew what would happen, but..." Another pause to wipe a few more tears off.
"Then he started showing signs of being a successful Ghost and they took him away for training. Not long after that I was put back to work, and around then was when I got smuggled out." God dammit the more she talked the more she cried this was terrible. "They told me I wouldn't see him again, and I'd pretty much accepted it by then so I figured there wasn't any reason for me to want to stay there." Oh god her poor baby, she didn't want to imagine what all he must have had to go through, or what he was probably doing at that moment... She looked at Satoru as she tried to keep herself from falling apart. "Should I have stayed?" She asked him hesitantly.

Satoru's grip on the arm rest of his chair tightened as he listened to Kiyo. He'd hated the brothels almost as much as the women that worked in them, and this wasn't helping matters. That this had happened to his younger sister was enough to make him want to cause more damage to Jun than his guns would allow or his hands could actually manage. So instead of going murderous, Satoru did all he could do right now and pulled Kiyoko into a hug.
It was awkward (position-wise at least) due to the differences in sitting height and standing height, but Satoru wanted her to be close right now. "You couldn't have helped him," Satoru told her quietly, keeping his voice steady and calm. "If you had stayed you would have been killed or forced to go through it again or who knows what," and he'd be down a sister that he'd been needing to see again more than he'd realized. "And I doubt he'd ever be allowed to see you..." More than that, he wasn't sure that her son- Takumi, he had a name, would remember her. Six was old enough to remember, of course, but he knew better than many that sometimes- when the good of your life you remembered became bitter and soured without the hope of getting it back- you willfully blocked out happy memories so that the bad didn't seem worse by comparison...

Kiyoko was caught off guard by the hug, and nearly fell on top of Satoru as he pulled her down. She caught herself in time though, and instead just stood bent over while she hugged him back. The position was awkward, sure, but she really needed this right now. She pressed her face into his shoulder and cried more. "You-you don't understand, I KNOW the whole training process, I KNOW what they do to them! They make them wear shock collars and fight until they pass out and- and--" Her grip tightened and the tears kept coming and DAMMIT why couldn't she have DONE something?!
"Wh-what if it were Gabe? And you knew every single way he was being tortured? What would you do!?" Her little boy must be HURTING and she never did anything to stop it!!

Satoru stiffened in her hold. She had a point. She had a damn good point because he knew exactly what he'd do, and it was something stupid and dangerous and likely to get him killed but he knew. "I'd get myself killed trying to get him out of there." He replied quietly, arms tightening a hair around Kiyoko. "But no one stood up to Jun and lived, and you can't help anything if you're dead." He felt like shit saying it, but it needed to be said, and some part of him twisted sickeningly at actually getting the words out.

He was right, he was completely right and Kiyoko knew that but that still didn't change how TERRIBLE she felt! She still remembered the last time she saw Takumi. She'd been given a few days warning and it gave her time to prepare and do everything she could to let him know how much she loved him and wanted him to be strong. She'd given him a ring, purposely too big for his tiny fingers so that he could keep it as he got older, and a message written inside with the hopes that he'd have one good thing to look back on. What if he had lost it? Or had thrown it away because he'd been changed too much? Looking at it that way she hadn't done anything for him at all, she'd been helpless to keep and protect him.
Kiyoko wasn't sure what else she could say out loud, and figured she might as well finish crying since it was the only thing she knew she could do at that moment. She hated this, she hates this so much...

Satoru rubbed her back and kept holding her as she cried. There was nothing he could say to comfort her, not really. There was nothing that could alleviate the guilt, and there was nothing that could be done about Takumi, and there wasn't even anything he could do to find out what might have happened. His contacts in New Tokyo had been dead for a long time now, and even then none of them had been particularly close to Jun. He was absolutely useless, and he hated it.
So he held on and tried to help Kiyoko ride out the storm. There was nothing else he could do.
