Kotori flopped onto a couch in the lounge area with a loud sigh. School had been beyond boring lately and she wasn't in the mood for doing her homework(math especially, she'd had so many people run up to her for help instead of the teacher in her math class it was ridiculous. Maybe it was because she was asian? Who knew.) She usually didn't come straight to the dorms after school, but lately Gabe had turned into Mr. Serious all over again the moment he picked up a gun, so practicing at the shooting range just wasn't as fun as it could be.
She'd probably go tomorrow though, the more practice he got in the better he got, and Tori couldn't have that.

Karter's reflexes were honed to their maximum sharpness, and the second he heard a loud sigh there was an airborn wad of paper thrown at it's direction. He was playing a racing game, and he didn't need any distractions right now, especially from sighing couch-floppers.

Suddenly there was a paper ball attacking Tori, and she immediately jumped when it hit her head. She quickly sat up and looked around to find the one responsible, which wasn't too hard since there was only one other person in the room. "Well that wasn't too nice." She said to a boy playing a video game. He looked around her age, maybe she'd see him before? Maybe not if she didn't remember him right off the bat, but whatever.

The pile of paper balls (yes, the Kuma had been just that prepared) next to Karter shrank by one member as he lobbed another at her. "Shut up," he hissed at her without looking up, "I'm winning."

This time Tori was prepared and caught the second paper ball. While most people in these circumstances would be at least a little annoyed, she just grinned. "Really?" She asked as she threw the paper ball back at his head. "Say you're sorry~" It came out as more of a giggle instead of a serious request.

Again, reflexes as sharp as a blade reared up, and Karter found himself smacking away the ball before it could hit his head. Though, that did cost him another spot in the race and he snarled at the handheld. "Fuck no," he groused, both at the game and at his new companion, whoever she was. She was messing him up!

Tori giggled a little louder at that. "Someone's grumpy." She said, taking a seat next to the boy. "Hey, what if I be quiet and I get to watch you play? Deal?" The game couldn't go on for too long, and she needed something to pass the time anyway, maybe he could help with that.

"Fine, just shut up already!" Karter barked, actually turning a little bit away from her. Whoever she was she was irritating as hell and Karter didn't like her. But then again, Karter hated everyone. Except for his little sister, she was okay.

Kotori raised an eyebrow as she looked at the boy for a moment. Well damn, someone was VERY grumpy indeed, what was his problem? Still, she had found something to do for a time being and that was enough for her. True to her word, she stayed silent and watched him play. Maybe when he was done they could actually talk or have another paper ball fight? That was fun, at least it had been for her.

At least the girl had been truthful about being quiet, Karter managed to grateful for that much (though the evidence of gratitude would never see the light of day). Despite that, the momentary lapse in judgement got him third place, just half a second behind first place and a hair behind second. The teen could have thrown his game through a wall. "Fuck!" He snarled at the system. He ranked, but it wasn't what he'd wanted. He'd wanted to WIN...

Tori just blinked in reaction to the boy's response at the game, sudden loud noises didn't freak her out considering she was used to being around guns going off. "You can play again can't you?" She asked with a tilt of her head. "Come on, you can win this time! I'll be absolutely quiet, like I was just now." She smiled, hoping she'd get SOME form of a positive response. She wasn't keeping her hopes up, but it didn't hurt to try anyway.

Karter just glowered at Tori. "I'd have to do all four races of the round again, not just THAT one. You messed me up." And now he was frustrated and didn't want to try again. He was SO CLOSE and it just slipped away, that mostly killed off his motivation.

Okay, Tori was trying really hard not to laugh, because she knew that would just make things worse. She managed to keep from laughing, but an amused smile did end up coming to surface no matter how hard she tried to hide it. Darn. "Okay I'm sorry, but I was gonna leave you alone until you started throwing crap at me." She shrugged and rubbed the back of her neck. "Technically you messed yourself up…" She bit her lip to keep from smiling any bigger.

"You made noise as soon as you came in!" Karter shot back, "that broke my concentration!" The flopping and sighing had broken the silence of the room, and while under normal circumstances it wouldn't have made a difference, the room had been SILENT. Any amount of noise sounded loud.

Tori blinked at that, glancing at where she had landed on the couch earlier, then back to him. She gave him a confused look. "That little bit of noise broke your concentration? Really?" That was… kind of sad, if she was being completely honest. Not that she was the best in the world in that department, but a sigh and falling into the couch probably wouldn't have messed her up nearly as much as he was claiming it did for him.
