"No, it wasn't long at all," the Ookami cooed. In actuality it had felt like an eternity, but that was probably more her own anxiety than anything else. She smiled down at the boy, a deep fondness in her eyes. He was okay, and that was all that mattered to her. Yukiko tried and failed to repress the urge to touch him. (And it would be just him, no "Kater" silently tagging along.) Her fingers lightly brushed against Theo's forehead, moving his mess of bangs out of his eyes and to the side.
"Are you feeling okay?" she murmured, quickly running her hand over his hair one last time for good measure. Yukiko wasn't sure when she had actually started to grow comfortable with these gestures, in fact she would probably be a blushing mess if she hadn't been so distracted.

Theo smiled as he felt her fingers in his hair. It was comforting, really and truly soothing to have Yuki do that for him. Especially when he felt so tired. "A little sleepy," He admitted. "But I'll be fine." He ached a bit, but that would pass. He glanced a little around the room with just his eyes as he tried to keep contact with Yuki. Funny... he couldn't remember too many times where he had been able to do this with her... He chalked it up to all the blunt-force trauma as a child.
Usagi met Theo's eyes as they glanced his way and blinked a little as he was given a smile. "H-hello..." Came Theo's soft voice again, and Usagi felt his heart melting in his chest. All the years of protecting him from the shadows were worth it, he admitted, just to be able to see him now.
"Hi..." He replied.

Yuki glanced back as Usagi spoke. She was a little disappointed he had already interrupted the first truly private moment she had gained with Theo, but it was to be expected.
"This is Usagi," the Ookami murmured, breaking the awkward silence that had fallen. "I talked to him a bit while you were asleep." Yukiko wasn't sure why she was helping the former alter-ego in the first place (considering she hated his guts and all) but introducing the two of them now would smooth things out for later on.

Theo smiled. "It's nice to meet you Usagi..." Usagi meant rabbit, right? That was a cute name... "I'll be out of your hair soon..." He added, giving a small smile.
Usagi blinked before remembering that his mouth could form words and responses. "Uh-No... I mean... You won't bother me or anything..." He stumbled a little over his words. Though he noted that this seemed to make Theo relax more if anything... Well perhaps he had started on the right foot after all.
Theo moved his eyes to Yuki. "Um... you wouldn't happen to know how long until I can get out of here, would you?" Maybe there was a chart at the foot of his bed, like there was at the foot of Usagi's...

"The doctor said it would be a few days," she answered softly. "Everything went really well though, so it shouldn't be too long. The Ookami continued to smile fondly, taking the hand that had previously been on her companion's forehead and lightly placing it over his hand. "I'm glad you're okay." All her worry was rushing out at once, leaving Yukiko with nothing but a giant heap of relief.

Theo nodded just a little, not enough to make his head hurt. This didn't stop the spike of fear in Usagi at the motion though... Theo was unaware, thankfully, of the white-haired Tora's discomfort. "I- I think I can last that long." He decided with a smile to Yuki. "Thanks for being around when I woke up..." It was a fear of his... closely guarded, but he hated waking up without a familiar face around. Strangers were a good way to unnerve him.
Usagi was well aware of that particular fear, as well as the medley of others that the Tora possessed, and was almost glad that Yuki was here because of it. Almost.

"What are friends for?" Although the Ookami wasn't entirely sure regular friends went to as far as to hide murder and collaborate with psychopaths on a regular basis. Then again, she did consider Theo more than and friend, but she wasn't quite sure what to label them. She was confused; her feelings were all muddled up inside. It wasn't on the top of her list of concerns right now, but it was still a constant little voice poking at the back of her mind.

Theo found it difficult to believe that every friend would do as much for him as Yukiko had... But he would have to take her word on it. He was much too shy to make too many friends in this world, and he accepted that readily. "Well, still..." He smiled. "I j-just wanted to say thanks..." He had been really scared beforehand as he knew Yuki knew. A brain tumor... Who'd have thought... He wasn't sure how it had happened but it did explain his weird lapses in memory, and he had been downright terrified. He was just glad Yuki had been there or else he would have panicked.
Usagi just watched the pair talk and settled back down into his bed. He'd... try talking to Theo once Yuki left. IF Yuki left...

There was a nod of understanding. Yukiko ran her thumb over the Tora's hand as she spoke; it was something her father used to do whenever she was upset. (It was funny, how much she had picked up on all of his small gestures, despite the distance she had tried to put between them mentally.)
"I'm just glad you're okay," the Ookami repeated. She really couldn't say it enough. Even though she had known there really was no tumor... If she had lost Theo, Yuki wouldn't know what to do with herself. She truly would have fallen to pieces. "We should celebrate when you're released," Yukiko added with a grin. "Go do something special." A pause. "Is there anything you want to do?"

Theo smiled. "W-well... I wouldn't mind going to the beach or the amusement park at the mall..." He said. "O-or if you don't wanna do those," He quickly added. "W-we could, um... we could just go to the Wok... I-I'm not picky."
No, Usagi thought to himself, you're not. But you shouldn't be afraid to say exactly what you'd like to do instead of trying to please someone else... He'd have to try his hardest to get Theo comfortable enough around him that he wouldn't have to be scared and could just say exactly what he wanted to...

"I want to do whatever you want to do," Yukiko replied with a gentle smile. She understood the need to put other people's wants over one's own, but she really did want Theo to decide for himself. It made her happy to see him growing slowly. One day she knew he would be confident and strong, the Ookami had seen the potential there. Theo was a wonderful person, and she couldn't wait until he would realize that.

Theo, reassured by Yuki's smile, thought for a moment. "Ah.. th-the beach?" He tried, then paused and tried again as he realized that that was a question more than a statement. "Th-the beach." He tried again. The Tora decided that that sounded more like an answer and left it at that.

"That sounds good. We'll go to the beach." And it really would be just the two of them. For the first time since knowing of his existence, Yukiko wouldn't have to worry about Usagi watching them. It would be... nice for the pair to family spend real time together.
Around this time a nurse, noticing Yuki still sitting in the room, strode in and promptly informed her that visiting hours were over for the day. The Ookami tried to hide her disappointment; she wasn't really ready to leave Theo just yet, especially when he had just woken up. But she also wasn't the type to argue, so there wasn't much she could do.
"I'll be back tomorrow," she promised, slowly gathering her things (which amounted to little more than a purse, but she would take all the time she could). After a beat the girl added, "Do you want me to bring you anything?"

Theo blinked and his smile wavered as the nurse informed Yuki that it was time for her to leave. He thought a moment at her question. "I... I guess a book from the library? Sherlock Holmes?" It didn't matter which one she got, he loved all of the stories so much that he didn't care how often he read them.
Usagi perked up just a bit as Yuki gathered her things. Finally! A chance to talk with his old host... He'd have to play dumb about a lot of things... but he supposed he could live with it...

Another nod. "Okay, I'll make sure I bring some." She tried to hesitate another moment, but was thwarted when he same nursed passed by again, giving the Ookami girl a notably less friendly look than before. Yukiko inwardly sighed and turned to leave. She paused to say good-bye, but the words got caught in her throat. She had almost meant to say "I love you," but somehow found herself incapable of doing so. Odd, she knew she loved him, just as much as she would any good friend (althouhh maybe it wasn't quite that. Maybe that was why...).
In the end, the Ookami just smiled and waved, offering a cheery, "See you tomorrow," and she exited the room.
