Yukiko had been sitting on the bleacher for what felt like ages. Grant it, only a few minutes had actually passed, but being completely in the dark made time seem to move in slow-motion. It wasn't all that hard to blame Karter for it either. He'd been more than a little vague when he'd asked to meet her at the field. In fact, he hadn't told her anything except for when and where he would be. True, she had come early, but that was to be expected.
Whenever anything with the Tora came up Yuki's mind immediately went to Theo; namely his well-being. After all, that was the only reason she and Karter were even in contact with one another (God knew they would not get along otherwise. She was aware that he more or less hated her). So the anxiety was to be expected.

Karter walked up to the bleachers at a moderate pace. Honestly he wasn't certain how to bring the notion up around Yuki, but he was fairly certain she would support the idea. He knew she knew that him being in Theo's head was a risk in and of itself... If anything HE did was ever caught then Theo was the one that would get blamed...
As much as he hated the idea of leaving his host for even a moment, a body of his own would be more beneficial than detrimental. There was just the matter of GETTING the damn thing... He'd need some help... Someone that would be able to transport Theo and himself post-operation at the very least...

Yukiko stood up when she saw Karter (at least that was what she assumed) walking towards her from the other end of the field. She supposed she must have seemed a tad too eager, but the Ookami couldn't stop it. Her anxiety levels were beyond her control. It wasn't until he was closer (and she was sure the harsher personality) that Yukiko said anything.
"Is everything okay?" she asked, not even bothering with a greeting. The real question was more or less implied: Is Theo okay?

Karter snapped out of his trance-like state at Yuki's voice. He blinked twice as synapses connected. "Oh... yeah, he's fine..." He said, waving a hand to dismiss her worries. "As if I'd ever let anything happen to him..."
He was having a hard time figuring out how to tell Yuki what he needed to tell her, or how to properly justify her involvement. Transport and covering for what Karter couldn't, really... But there was mostly a strong gut-feeling that this was knowledge that Yuki needed to know. "Look, this is about both him and me and maybe a little bit about you, but there's nothing wrong so sit back down." He took his own advice and sat as he waited for Yuki to do the same.

After a moment of hesitation Yukiko obeyed, slowly sinking back onto the bleachers. The Ookami visibly deflated when she was told Theo was okay; half of her worry rushed out like a waft of hot air. However, her head was still filled with questions. She had absolutely no idea what Karter was talking about.
"What's going on?" she asked quietly, sounding less worried and more curious.

'An existential crisis.' was the first remark that made it into Karter's head. He quickly shoved it to the side so he could actually focus. "A few weeks ago," he began, getting to the point would be for the best. "I stumbled across an old Ookami file for a person named 'Xion Taylor.' As it turns out, Theo isn't the only one with a split personality, it seems that Miss Taylor was actually doing something about it though."
He cracked a grin. "She wasn't taking medication though, apparently she had enough money to make her other half a whole new body for there to be a transplant. However, she's recently gone missing so the project was SUPPOSED to be scrapped..." 'Supposed to be' was becoming one of his favorite phrases it seemed. He shifted his weight on his spot, keeping his gaze fixed in front of him and not on Yuki. He didn't want to see her reaction. Not right now anyway.
"It seems that the project has merely gone underground. The head doctor at the hospital seems to be funding it himself... and I'm fairly certain he's looking for a... well, more or less a test subject..." Yeah, that sounded pretty bad, especially out loud. "I've looked into it, it seems like a solid theory and as much as I hate to admit it Theo and I sharing a body is a very big risk... and splitting time like this isn't fair to him or me no matter how necessary."

Yukiko's eyes widened at the sound of Xion's name. She hadn't heard from the girl in ages, despite how close they had seemed (she had to admit, that had kinda hurt). In fact, Xi/Mel was the entire reason she had adjusted to Karter's existance easily. There was a corrupt of thoughts going through the Ookami's head, a few in the general direction of Xion being missing. There was a brief flicker of worry, but Yukiko pushed it away.
"Yeah, I know about Xi..." The Ookami shook her head. "So basically, you want them to seperate you and Theo? Are you sure it's safe?"

Karter finally looked over to Yuki. "Probably, we are talking about it being a private project originally funded by a very affluent company that employed the top doctors around. I'm nearly certain it was almost complete by the time that Xion disappeared and that they had performed tests..." He sighed. "And even if it wasn't, I'd still want to try... I might not go through with it, but I would want to..."

Yukiko cast her gaze to the side, brow furrowed thoughtfully. It was a tempting idea, she had to admit. The thought of Theo having his body to himself... He could live a normal life, and God knew the kid deserved at least that much after all he had been though. Grant it, the Ookami knew Karter would still be around, but still... She bit her lip. There was some selfishness there as well. Yukiko knew it meant she could have really share a private moment or Theo with the boy without his overbearing other half hanging around. But of course, it still came down to Theo's overall welfare. And Karter did make a good case. However, the Ookami still wanted more info.
"How did you find out about this in the first place?"

Karter figured lying wouldn't be in his best interest and gave a shrug. "I hacked the database." He said. "Then I remembered a few thug hotspots and went there. Did a little interrogation and found out the rest of it." Ah... that had been a fun night... he had had to write everything down instead of speaking and wear his mask, but it had been FUN... "Truthfully the idea of having my own body" of leveling the playing field "has been on my mind for a while. I only thought it was possible after finding that bit..."

There was a long, pregnant pause. Yukiko clenched her fists around her skirt anxiously, biting her lip and glancing away from Karer as she mulled things over. There were risks involved, she was more than aware of that. But there was still a little voice in the back of the Ookami's head was pointing out all the positives. And for once, her worried side lost.
"...What can I do to help?"

Karter let out a breath he hadn't been aware he was holding before he started to talk. "Providing transportation, and probably helping with the cover story..." There was GOING to be preparations for the both of them to deal with the procedure. He was going to need to cook up something plausible... He'd talk to the doctor about a good cover story, firstly for Theo's work and secondly for the boy himself.
"We'll have to lie to Theo to get him in there," Karter explained. "The doctor will probably help with that, I'm going to need you to support what he says, so you'll have to come along for one or two of the exams. I won't be able to alter his memories after this, so I hope you can lie well."

It would be tricky, she had to admit. Yukiko barely had any transportation for herself, but she would figure something out, alot with everthin else. She had to.
"I can handle that." The Ookami didn't look so confident, but there was still an aura of determination hanging around her. "Just let me know when you'll need me."

Karter nodded. "Soon," He assured her. "Maybe even in a few days. I'll be looking for this Doctor so I can get everything set up for Theo and I. You'll come along once or twice so you know the story and whatnot..." And then Theo would likely ask her to be there for moral support when he was given the name of a phoney but similar medical procedure. Probably a tumor... Something of the sort.
He frowned. "And... While I can still alter his memories, I'm going to be limiting my interactions with him when I'm not out and about." Unless it was absolutely necessary, he was going to let Theo keep what memories he had... He wasn't certain how else he could thank the Tora... Maybe... Maybe when he had his own body he could become friends with him...
That would be nice... having a friend again... He wouldn't be so lonely anymore. And neither would Theo, he wouldn't have just Yuki anymore... The thoughts made him feel warm and fuzzy on the inside...

"Okay..." the Ookami murmured. She paused, nodding affirmatively to herself. "Okay, I'll be able to do that fine." Her voice was back to a normal volume now and she sounded far more confident. After another pause (this one more thoughtful than uncertain), the Ookami added, "And Karter? Thank you; for watching out for Theo. I know he wouldn't even be here if it weren't for you, so you deserve some gratitude." Grant it, Yukiko wasn't exactly fond of the Tora. In fact, she didn't really like him at all. But even if his methods were questionable, his motives were the same as hers. They both loved Theo in their own way, and Yukiko had to give Karter credit for what he had done for the boy. Even if she didn't like it.
